Law Enforcement Guidelines

Last updated: September 3, 2026 · PolyLife, operated by Patrick Curl

These guidelines explain how law enforcement and other government agencies can request information from PolyLife, and how we respond. We take the safety of our members seriously and cooperate with valid legal requests, while protecting members’ privacy and requiring proper legal process. These guidelines are for official use and are not legal advice; nothing here waives any legal right or objection available to PolyLife or its members.

Emergencies involving a risk of death or serious physical harm: email polylifedev@gmail.com with “EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST” in the subject line and the details below. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (for example, 911 in the US) first.

How to submit a request

Send requests from an official government email address or on official letterhead to polylifedev@gmail.com. Please include:

Legal process we require

PolyLife discloses member information only when required by law and supported by valid legal process appropriate to the data requested. As a general matter, and subject to applicable law:

Requests from outside the United States should be made through a recognized channel such as a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or letter rogatory, unless an applicable law provides otherwise.

Data we hold

PolyLife is built to collect and retain as little as possible. We may hold an account email address, profile information the member provided, and limited operational and safety logs. We do not sell member data. Some information (for example, deleted accounts and content) may not be recoverable once removed, and we do not retain data solely to anticipate future requests.

Preservation requests

On receipt of a valid preservation request from law enforcement, we will take reasonable steps to preserve available records associated with a specified account for 90 days, extendable once on renewed request, pending service of valid legal process.

Emergency disclosure

Where we form a good-faith belief that an emergency involving a danger of death or serious physical injury requires disclosure without delay, we may disclose limited information to law enforcement to address that emergency, consistent with applicable law.

Child safety

PolyLife has zero tolerance for the sexual exploitation of minors. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with resulting investigations. See our Child Safety Standards.

Notice to members

Our policy is to notify affected members of requests for their information before disclosure, so they may seek to protect their rights, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so (for example, by a court order), or in an emergency involving risk of serious harm.

Authentication and costs

We take steps to verify that requests are genuine and may reject or seek clarification on requests that are incomplete, overbroad, or not supported by valid process. We may seek reimbursement of costs where the law allows.
